Dr. Joe Shalhoub, originally from Jersey City, New Jersey, grew up in a large family where teamwork and service were central values. Working alongside his family in his father’s neighborhood pharmacy, he developed an early appreciation for community-based care and the importance of building trust through everyday interactions.  

He earned dual undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and Computer Science from New York University. After beginning his career in the utility sector, Dr. Shalhoub felt a strong calling to pursue medicine and enrolled in a post-baccalaureate pre-medical program at Columbia University. He went on to earn his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.  

Dr. Shalhoub completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He has spent decades practicing primary care on the North Shore, where he is known for his thoughtful, problem-solving approach and commitment to long-term patient relationships. 

In 2026, Dr. Shalhoub joined AllaraCare Medical Group, where he is focused on delivering patient-centered primary care that combines personalized attention with modern diagnostic tools and coordinated team-based support. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine.  Dr. Shalhoub is a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society and the American College of Physicians.  

Outside of work, Dr. Shalhoub enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. A lifelong hands-on problem solver, he takes pride in home improvement projects and mechanical repairs, and he appreciates the close-knit community he and his family have built over more than two decades on the North Shore.
